Dong Zhong Seeks His Mother

Neutral

The poem

Talk of right and wrong is wind past the ear, good clothes and good fortune come of themselves;do not hold on to what happened in those years, for your heart and mine were always the same.

Original: 说是说非风过耳 / 好衣好禄自然丰 / 君莫记取当年事 / 汝意还如我意同

The story

Dong Zhong was the son of Dong Yong and the celestial weaver who had come down to marry him. His mother returned to heaven while he was small. Grown, he learned the arts of the immortals and could fly, and he searched for her as far as Mount Taibai, where on the seventh night of the seventh month she appeared to him at last.

What it means

This is the sign of a child seeing its mother again, with kindly people on every side. Gossip about who was right and who was wrong should pass your ear like wind. Comfort comes without being fought for. Nor is there any need to keep hold of an old grievance, since the other party's heart is closer to yours than you think. What you hope for turns out happily, especially if you are willing to work for a common good, and the support you get will be as warm as a child returning to its mother.

By area of life

Wealth

There is enough for a settled life and nothing lacking. Do not let other people's whispers stir up greed and the income stays reliable.

Love

A happy, affectionate match. Be as open as a child with a parent and it will come about; understanding and patience make the daily life of it.

Work

A senior figure takes your part. Positions come through introduction, superiors protect you, and the work itself is steady and comfortable.

Health

Symptoms rise and fall. Let the gossip go, put down the resentment you are carrying, and living lightly makes the illness lighter.

Travel

No need to go far. What you have is already sufficient, and building quietly at home serves you better than a journey.

Advice

Let the talk blow past and go back to the people who love you.
