無妄 · Wú Wàng
The Judgment
Innocence. Supreme success. Perseverance furthers. If someone is not as he should be, he has misfortune, and it does not further him to undertake anything. Thunder rolls under heaven and everything responds without calculation. Act from your true nature rather than from strategy, and what follows will be right; act from scheming and nothing will go well.
The Image
Under heaven thunder rolls: all things attain the natural state of innocence. Thus the kings of old, rich in virtue and in harmony with the time, fostered and nourished all beings.
Interpretation
Stop calculating. This hexagram asks you to act from straightforward instinct and honest intention rather than from a plan designed to produce a particular effect. When your motives are clean, the situation supports you completely, and the success promised here is unusually large. When they are not, even sensible-looking actions go wrong. So examine why you are doing what you are doing. Are you being honest, or performing honesty? Is this a genuine impulse, or a manoeuvre? The other half of the teaching concerns acceptance. Innocence means being free of the demand that everything must serve your purpose, which includes accepting the undeserved setback that arrives from nowhere. Not everything that happens is about you or caused by you. Meet what comes without adding a story to it, do the next honest thing in front of you, and let go of the compulsion to control the outcome.
Love
Be yourself without strategy, games, or managed impressions. Sincerity is unusually attractive right now, and calculation will be sensed and disliked. Say the plain true thing and trust it to land. Drop the performance entirely and let yourself be known as you actually are.
Career
Do honest work and let the results follow; do not manoeuvre for position. Unexpected setbacks may arrive through no fault of yours, so avoid speculative ventures. Keep your dealings transparent and your reputation clean. Keep your dealings transparent and your reputation, which is the real asset, clean.

Act from your honest nature and stop trying to engineer the outcome.

Innocent behaviour brings good fortune. Follow your genuine first impulse, before self-interest has had time to shape it. What you do from that clean starting place will turn out well.
If one does not count on the harvest while ploughing, nor on the use of the ground while clearing it, it furthers one to undertake something. Work without fixating on the payoff.
Undeserved misfortune. The cow that was tethered by someone is the wanderer's gain, the citizen's loss. Bad luck arrives with no cause and no lesson. Absorb it and do not manufacture a meaning.
He who can be persevering remains without blame. Hold to what you know is right and change nothing to please the pressure around you. Simply keeping your nature intact is enough here.
Use no medicine in an illness incurred through no fault of your own. It will pass of itself. Do not intervene in a disturbance you did not create; interference will only prolong it.
Innocent action brings misfortune. Nothing furthers. Even a well-intentioned move is wrong when the time is wrong. Stay still. Not acting is the correct action at this particular moment. Restraint is the only faultless move available.
