The Judgment
The Gentle. Success through what is small. It furthers one to have somewhere to go, and it furthers one to see the great man. Wind follows upon wind, unremarkable in any single gust yet able to reach everywhere. Influence of this kind works by patient repetition rather than force, and it needs a clear direction to be effective.
The Image
Winds following one upon another: the image of the Gently Penetrating. Thus the superior man spreads his commands abroad and carries out his undertakings, repeating the message until it has quietly entered everywhere.
Interpretation
You will get what you want here by gentle persistence rather than by any decisive stroke. The wind gets into every crack because it keeps blowing, not because it pushes hard, and this hexagram asks you to work that way: small consistent influence, repeated patiently, applied where resistance is lowest. Two conditions make it succeed. First, you need an aim. Wind without direction is just weather, and mildness without purpose becomes indecision, which is the failure mode the lines keep warning about. Decide clearly what you are trying to achieve, then be flexible about the route. Second, get proper guidance; the Judgment recommends seeing the great man, meaning someone whose experience can save you months of gentle effort in the wrong direction. Beware of excessive submissiveness, endless second-guessing, and the sort of humility that is really avoidance. Gentleness is a strategy here, not a personality; keep the resolve of a warrior underneath it.
Love
Influence through tenderness and consistency rather than confrontation. Small daily kindnesses will change more than any serious conversation. Be careful, though, not to become so accommodating that you disappear; gentle does not mean without preferences or without a clear sense of what you need.
Career
Progress through persuasion, patience and repetition. Socialise the idea before the meeting, revisit it, and let it seep into the culture. Seek a mentor for direction. Avoid vacillation and endless consultation; know exactly what outcome you want before you begin being flexible about how.
