The imagery
An armoured knight sits still on a heavy black carthorse at the edge of a ploughed field, holding a single pentacle out in front of him on his open palm and looking down at it steadily. The horse has all four hooves planted and its head lowered; unlike the other three knights it is not moving at all. A sprig of oak leaves decorates both the helmet and the harness. Behind them the furrowed brown field stretches to a low green tree line under a plain sky. Everything is deliberate and unhurried. This is the slowest card in the deck and the one most likely to arrive, in the end, exactly where it said it would. Nothing about him is dramatic, and nothing about him is unfinished either.
