Original: 欲求胜事可非常 / 争奈亲姻日暂忙 / 到头竟必成中箭 / 贵人指引贵人乡
The story
On Zhou Yu's advice, Sun Quan offered his sister to Liu Bei in marriage, meaning to lure him into Wu and hold him hostage against the return of Nanjun. Following Zhuge Liang's sealed instructions, Liu Bei first called on the elder statesman Qiao and made the visit public. The dowager empress met him, liked him, and the trap became a real wedding; Liu Bei went home with a wife.
What it means
The image is misfortune turning into blessing. On the surface it is a scheme laid by someone else, with relatives running about and a great deal of fuss, and the outcome is that you are the one chosen and everyone is pleased. The word that carries this lot is patron. What you want is not easy in itself, but people keep speaking for you, arranging things and steering you toward those who can help. Do not be alarmed that the matter began strangely; what lands in your hands is better than what you asked for.
