Wei Pei Meets an Immortal

Original: 忽言一信向天飞 / 泰山宝贝满船归 / 若问路途成好事 / 前头仍有贵人推
The story
The poor scholar Wei Pei, nearly forty and still without office, was leading his donkey over the Luoyang bridge when he saw a fisherman selling a great turtle. Unable to bear it and having no money, he traded his donkey for the creature and released it under the bridge. He passed the examinations soon afterwards. The turtle, it was said, was an immortal in disguise.
What it means
The image is a career coming to fruition, and going forward is favourable. A letter flies up, a ship comes home loaded, and the good thing on the road is being pushed along by someone ahead of you. That is the character of this sign: your direction is right, and what you still need is somebody who knows the way. Ask about rank and there is a patron in front of you, more happiness, and ample means. Ask for guidance rather than pressing on alone.
