I Ching consultation

Hold your question. Let the coins fall where they may.

Behind the ritual

Common questions

What is the three-coin method?

You toss three coins six times. Each toss gives a line, building the hexagram from the bottom up. Three heads or three tails gives a 'moving' line, which changes into its opposite and produces a second hexagram.

What are changing lines?

They are the places where the situation is under pressure. Their texts are the most specific advice the I Ching gives, and the second hexagram shows where things are heading if that pressure resolves.

Which translation do you use?

Our texts follow the Wilhelm and Legge readings of the classical judgments and images, rewritten in plain modern language rather than translated word for word.
