The imagery

A huge sun with a human face and alternating straight and wavy rays fills the upper half of the card. Below it a naked child rides a white horse bareback, arms open, a large orange banner streaming behind and a wreath with a red feather in the hair. A grey wall runs across the middle distance with four tall sunflowers turning above it. The child has come out from behind that wall into open ground and holds nothing at all to steady itself. Everything in the image is direct: no veils, no shadows, no ambiguity, and this is the only card in the deck where the light is total. It is the picture of joy that does not need to be explained, of vitality, and of being fully and unselfconsciously seen.

Upright

General

Clarity, warmth and straightforward good news. The Sun is the deck's most positive card, and it means what it looks like: success, energy, and a period where things go well and you can enjoy them without waiting for the catch. Confidence returns. What was obscured becomes obvious, and what you have worked for becomes visible to others. Let yourself be happy in public. This card also asks you to be as uncomplicated as the child on the horse, offering your enthusiasm directly rather than dressing it up. Say yes to what delights you.

Love

Joy, warmth and easy affection. Relationships flourish, honesty comes naturally and there is real pleasure in each other's company. This card can mark engagement, marriage, children or simply an unusually happy stretch. If you are single, your natural warmth is doing the work; go where people are and enjoy yourself rather than strategising. What is good here does not need to be hidden or complicated.

Career

Success and recognition. Work goes well, obstacles clear, and your contribution is visible to people who matter. This is a good time to launch, present or step forward, because your confidence is genuine rather than performed. Enjoy the achievement instead of immediately looking for the next hill. Generosity toward colleagues costs you nothing now and comes back many times over.

Money

A bright period. Income improves, a plan pays off, or a financial worry simply resolves. Enjoy some of it and put some of it away. This is a good moment for optimism grounded in real numbers, and for spending on things that genuinely make life warmer rather than on proving something to anyone.

Reversed

General

The light is still there but something is dimming it. Reversed, the Sun points to temporary discouragement, delayed success, or a happiness you cannot quite feel even though the circumstances are good. It can show forced positivity, the exhausting work of seeming fine, or an ego that has grown a little loud to cover uncertainty. Nothing here is broken, only clouded. Simplify, rest, and look for the small real pleasures rather than the large performed ones. Joy returns to this card quickly once you stop demanding that it be impressive.

Love

Warmth is present but muted. Perhaps a good relationship is under strain from outside pressures, or optimism about a connection has outrun what is actually happening. Reversed, this card asks for realistic expectations and simple honest time together. Where you have been performing happiness, admitting the truth will bring you closer than another cheerful evening would. Let it be uncomplicated between you again.

Career

Delayed recognition or a success that feels flat. A project may be postponed, or you may be doing well by every visible measure while feeling nothing about it. Reversed, this card suggests checking whether the goal still means anything to you. Avoid overselling results. Modest, genuine progress will restore your confidence faster than a bigger announcement. Give it a little time and some honesty.

Money

Good news is delayed or smaller than hoped. Reversed, the Sun advises against optimistic assumptions and against spending on the strength of money that has not arrived. The situation is basically sound, but it needs realism and a slower timeline. Cut back briefly and let the position brighten on its own schedule.

Advice

Enjoy what is good now and let yourself be seen enjoying it.

Affirmation

I let joy and clarity fill this day.
